Over 25 years ago, when I was looking for a fun and exciting workout, my sister suggested that I check out the local martial art school. I went the next day to find out what was involved and I got enrolled. At my first class, I put on my new crisp uniform, threw some kicks, punched the heavy bag and broke a board. I loved it! Well I was hooked.
Reflecting back through the years, what I love best is that the martial arts is for everybody; young and old, male or female, individual or team sport oriented. I love the diversity in the classes, whether it is working with the two year old tigers, or our mature adults in their fifties and sixties (and older).

Over the years I have seen the tremendous benefits our
students have gained from the martial arts. The overly active
child who has gained self-discipline and focus that helps
him perform well in school, the shy boys or girls who come
out of their shell to take leadership roles in their school or
community, or the women, men and children who haven’t
exercised in years and now are feeling good about
themselves and living healthier lives. If I didn’t see for myself
the incredible results over the years, I wouldn’t believe it. I
have discovered the benefits from martial arts grow
exponentially; the longer you experience them, the higher
they grow. Nothing makes us prouder than when a parent
tells us their teacher has noticed an improvement in their
child since they started taking our classes. You know it is a
misconception that you need to be a Bruce Lee to start in
Taekwondo, all you need is the desire to try something new.
Our three sons have earned their black belts in both
Taekwondo and Gumdo, and so I have also seen how the
martial arts instilled in them the ability to strive to be the best
in everything they do.
